Acceptance of terms

By downloading, accessing or using TipLens (the "App"), operated by Maiti LLC ("we," "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to use TipLens. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

The service

TipLens is a community-driven tipping transparency app. It shows crowd-sourced information about tipping norms, "tip pressure" signals, country tipping guides, delivery app ratings and user reviews for restaurants, cafés, bars, counter service and similar places. Most features work without an account; writing reviews, adding or correcting a place, saving favourites and voting need a free account.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly about any unauthorized use. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account.

Your content

You keep ownership of the reviews, ratings and other content you submit ("User Content"). By submitting it, you give Maiti LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, reproduce and distribute it within the App and in materials promoting the App.

Your User Content must be truthful and based on your genuine experience, and must not:

• Be false, defamatory or misleading
• Contain harassment, hate speech or threats, or target individual staff members
• Infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy
• Contain spam, advertising, solicitation or malicious content
• Impersonate any person or business

Written reviews are checked before they appear publicly. We may decline or remove User Content, and suspend accounts, that break these Terms, without prior notice. You can report any review in the App and block any user.

Business listings, corrections and claims

Anyone with an account may suggest a new place or a correction to an existing one. Suggestions are reviewed before they go live, to reduce duplicates and spam. Some place information comes from OpenStreetMap contributors (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License).

A business owner may ask to claim their listing. A claimed listing shows a badge. Claiming a business does not let the owner remove reviews, change community statistics or hide negative feedback.

Advertising

TipLens is free and supported in part by small banner ads and clearly labelled "Sponsored" cards served through Google AdMob. We do not use pop-up ads, full-screen interstitials or forced video ads, and ads never block core features.

Prohibited uses

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Try to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Scrape, reverse-engineer or bulk-extract App data without our written permission
• Submit fraudulent reviews, ratings or listings, including reviews of your own business or a competitor's
• Interfere with or disrupt the App

Third-party services

The App relies on services from Apple, Google and Supabase, and may link to external sites such as your maps app or a business's website. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, which are governed by their own terms.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any information (including tipping estimates or business details) is accurate or complete.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maiti LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App, including any reliance on tipping guidance or community-submitted content.

Termination

We may suspend or end your access to the App at any time, including for breaking these Terms. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.

App stores

Your use of the App must also follow the terms of the store you downloaded it from (the Apple App Store or Google Play).

Apple App Store

If you downloaded TipLens from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and Maiti LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it. Your use of the App must also follow the App Store's Usage Rules. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time and will change the effective date above when we do. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
